Twitter’s New Mobile Service, Vine, Gains Traction at NYC Fashion Week

Is a six second video enough to achieve any real marketing value? Well it seems at last month’s New York Fashion Week, the answer was YES.
It looks like fashion editors, buyers, designers and others at the event were making use of Vine, Twitter’s new mobile service, that lets you capture and share short looping videos.
Check out this piece on Atlantic Wire to see several examples of the Vines from New York Fashion Week.
Sure, 6 seconds is not much but that can be a benefit to your audience because it forces you to get to the point quickly. We write plenty of copy for radio promos, online display ads and outdoor billboards so know well the “less is more” concept. We know how challenging it can be but also how effective it is when well-executed.
Consumer and trade shows are about live action, demos, etc. As video offers a platform to capture this better than a static image, it will be interesting to see what type of traction Vine gets moving forward by organizers, exhibitors and attendees.
As you think about the potential of mobile video for your show, consider this data point from an IAB press release… 92% of people who have watched a video on their mobile phone share it with others.
Drop us a line with any Vine examples from your event, and let us know what you think about this new service.
