IAEE Expo! Expo! Survey: What Mobile Tools Are Shows Using?
Dec 15
Last Thursday, I presented a session at IAEE’s Expo! Expo!, entitled “Leveraging Mobile Marketing to Drive Attendance, Engagement and Value”.
It was great to be part of this major industry event, and hear first-hand all of the different ways show organizers are using mobile marketing.
I conducted a mini-survey at the session to find out how many of the participants were actually using mobile now, and specifically which tools they were using. It’s a simple, but insightful, survey.
The question I asked was, “Which of the following mobile tools are you currently using for your shows?”
Here are the results, which are from show organizers only, in order from highest to lowest use. As multiple answers were possible, the total is more than 100 percent.
QR codes 76%
Mobile apps 67%
Mobile web site 62%
Mobile optimized email 43%
SMS 33%
Mobile search 19%
Mobile display ads 14%
MMS 10%
RFID/NFC 10%
HTML5 5%
Of all the attendees who submitted surveys, only one indicated that they were not doing anything in the mobile area, and 90 percent of the people using mobile marketing indicated they were employing two or more of the above tools.
